Les Harvey (1944-1972) was a Scottish guitarist best known as a member of the rock band Stone the Crows. Emerging in the late 1960s, Harvey's style was rooted in blues rock, characterized by powerful guitar riffs and emotive solos. He was instrumental in shaping the band's sound, which blended rock with elements of blues and folk. Stone the Crows gained prominence with their self-titled debut album in 1970, showcasing tracks like "The Touch of Your Loving Hand" and "Big Jim Salter." Their second album, "Ode to John Law," further established their reputation, but it was their energetic live performances that left a lasting impression on audiences. Tragically, Les Harvey's career was cut short when he died in a freak accident during a performance in 1972. Despite his brief time in the spotlight, his influence on the blues rock genre and his contributions to Stone the Crows have been recognized by later musicians. His legacy lives on as a talented guitarist who helped shape the sound of British rock during a transformative era.
